Kelantan Barisan Nasional and Umno division heads have decided on a candidate for the Mentri Besar's post should BN capture the state from Pas in the general election.
However, state liaison chief Datuk Seri Annuar Musa is not revealing the candidate until after the results are declared.
He said the candidate's name had not even been submitted to the party headquarters yet.
However, he said people could guess once the candidate list is released within the next few days.
"Only if we form the state government will we inform the headquarters on our choice of candidate and seek its approval," he said.
Annuar revealed that the consensus among the 10 Umno division chiefs was reached without much lobbying.
This was because, he said, the state party leadership had previously met and discussed in depth with the people involved before deciding on the candidate.
On the candidate list, Annuar said the state was the first to send the list to the party headquarters.
